In 1990, Congress officially established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW). Advocates such as Johnny’s Ambassadors have worked together to sponsor activities to educate the public about mental illness. This year, Mental Illness Awareness Week is October 6-12, and World Mental Health Day is October 10. Many people are unaware of the potential harms of THC use on the developing adolescent brain, including the development of addiction, mental illness, psychosis, and suicidality.
To help raise awareness about the connection between mental illness and THC use in our youth, Johnny’s Ambassadors is giving away FREE Kindle editions of our books this week, Oct. 7-11, including The Impact of THC on Our Children: A Parent’s Worst Nightmare (NEW Spanish version now available!) and The Dangerous Truth About Today’s Marijuana: Johnny Stack’s Life and Death Story. Please spread the word to all parents, school administrators, teachers, counselors, coalitions, and legislators you know to download their free copy! Kindle books can be read on any browser or on the Kindle app on any device (you do not need to own a kindle).
